Luv My Art

A Phoenix native, it was the summer of 1993 that I was searching for my purpose in life. Something that represented Marlene Wilson. I saw a newspaper clipping advertising summer activities through Tempe Parks and Recreation. What drew my attention was a class on drawing. At that time my grandmother, my father and my brother were outstanding artists. I could not draw stick people but I was mesmerized at the possibility of having some hidden talent. What did I have to lose? I took that class and the drawings I brought home to my family were mysteries to them. I had to identify what it was on my paper. Not one to give up, the instructor had us buy a book called “Draw what you see.” I bought the book, read it, dropped the class, and started drawing what was in my head. The rest, as they say, is history.
